Angela Esterhammer is a Professor (Chair) in English Literature at the University of Zürich (since 2007) and holds an Adjunct Distinguished University Professorship at the University of Western Ontario. Her research focuses on British, German, and European Romanticism, 19th-century culture, and the interplay of cultural mobility and performativity. She has authored foundational works on verbal performativity, speech acts, and Romantic-era improvisation.
