Jacquelyn Matava is an Assistant Professor of Music at Trinity University, teaching applied voice, opera workshop, and aural skills. A mezzo-soprano acclaimed for her 'warm sound' and 'soothing legato line,' she performs internationally with credits including title roles in Cendrillon and Dido and Aeneas. She has performed under conductors including Sir Simon Rattle at venues like the Lucerne Festival.
Her research focuses on vocal performance and pedagogy. She holds a D.M. and M.M. from Indiana University and a B.A. from Vassar College. Previously, she taught at St. Mary's University and serves as an adjudicator for vocal competitions.
