Jacquelyn Cragg

Dr. Jacquelyn Cragg is an Assistant Professor at the University of British Columbia's Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, specializing in data science and epidemiology. She completed her MPH and PhD in epidemiology and biostatistics at UBC's School of Population and Public Health, followed by postdoctoral fellowships at Harvard T.H Chan School of Public Health and ICORD. Her research focuses on identifying causes, risk factors, and biomarkers for neurological disease progression in conditions like Parkinson’s disease, ALS, multiple sclerosis, spinal cord injury, and stroke.

Her work integrates genetic, biochemical, clinical, and medication history data with traditional epidemiological methods and machine-learning algorithms, addressing drug safety, effectiveness, and repurposing. Current research projects include studies on herpes zoster vaccination and dementia risk, cost-related medication nonadherence in Canada, and sex differences in cardiovascular disease prevalence among spinal cord injury patients.

Dr. Cragg employs causal inference frameworks and contributes to pharmacoepidemiology through systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and simulation modeling. She leads interdisciplinary collaborations and has supervised students like Tiffany Price (PhD Pharmaceutical Sciences), exploring topics such as anticholinergic effects in ALS.
