Jacqueline Nguyen is an Associate Professor in the Cognitive and Developmental Sciences program within the Department of Educational Psychology at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee's School of Education, where she also chairs the department. She earned a PhD in Educational Psychology (Human Development) from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and held an NSF SBE Minority Postdoctoral Fellowship at Saint Joseph’s University.
Her research examines cultural identity development, parent-child relationships, and sociocultural contexts in immigrant, refugee, and ethnic minority populations across adolescence and early adulthood. She employs qualitative and community-embedded methodologies, collaborating with Hmong and Latino communities. Current projects include studies on hip hop's role in Southeast Asian identity and college social transitions.
She leads the Cultures & Contexts Research Group and publishes on cultural variability, ethical research frameworks, and ethnic identity formation.
