Jacqueline Kurlowski serves as Director of the Edgar Dyer Institute for Leadership and Public Policy and Senior Lecturer in the Department of Politics at Coastal Carolina University's College of Education and Social Sciences. She teaches core courses including Introduction to Public Policy (POLI-371), Social Policy (POLI-459), and an applied community health data course producing county-level health status reports.
Her academic credentials include:
- Master of Public Affairs in Public Policy, University of Missouri
- Bachelor of Science in Business Administration
- Bachelor of Arts in Spanish
Her research examines intersections between public policy, social determinants of health, and educational equity, informed by direct experience managing a rural medical clinic in the Dominican Republic. This work highlights systemic connections between poverty, healthcare access, and educational outcomes in underserved communities.
She founded the Edgar Dyer Fellowship program that trains interdisciplinary student cohorts in policy analysis and grant writing for nonprofit organizations. Fellows develop research portfolios through applied projects serving county-level governmental clients, directly preparing them for graduate studies and policy careers.
The Edgar Dyer Institute functions as an active policy laboratory where students conduct community health assessments and develop evidence-based policy recommendations under her mentorship.
