Jacqueline L. Angel is a Professor at the LBJ School of Public Affairs and Faculty Affiliate at the Population Research Center, Center for Health and Social Policy, and Center for Women and Gender Studies at The University of Texas at Austin. Her work focuses on aging, health disparities, and social policy impacts on Hispanic and Mexican American communities.
- PhD from Rutgers University
- NIA Postdoctoral Fellowship at Penn State (1990-1992)
Her research explores family structures, health inequality, and care systems for vulnerable elderly populations. Recent studies include pandemic resilience in Latino communities and intergenerational care models. She has served on governmental advisory panels and chairs the NIA Behavior and Social Science of Aging Review Committee.
Key scientific accolades include Fellow of The Gerontological Society of America (2000) and leadership roles in NIH review committees. She teaches courses on gender, health, and social welfare policy and has authored five books, including The Health of Aging Hispanics and Inheritance in Contemporary America.
