Jacqueline Frayne

Jacqueline Frayne is an Associate Professor in the UWA Medical School's General Practice department at The University of Western Australia. She holds dual roles as a clinician and academic researcher, supervising medical students and contributing to the MD program's Advocacy theme. Her clinical work involves general practice and antenatal care at King Edward Memorial Hospital for Women, focusing on women with severe mental illnesses and maternal-fetal health.

Education: MBBS, DRANZCOG, FRACGP, MMed (Women's Health), GCIM, and PhD (Comprehensive pregnancy care for women with severe mental illness). Her research focuses on translational women's health, particularly severe mental illness in pregnancy, endometriosis, clinical reasoning in medical education, and psychotropic medication prescribing practices. She leads projects addressing hypertension in pregnancy, breast density, and Indigenous health equity.

• Grants: 5 active/funded projects including studies on breast density communication, Aboriginal menstrual health, and psychotropic medication guidelines.

Recent research highlights include developing the Raising Awareness Tool for Endometriosis (RATE) and analyzing racism's impact on Indigenous general practice trainees. She collaborates nationally on clinical guidelines, including Australia's perinatal mental health frameworks and pregnancy care standards.

Teaching responsibilities include leading Clinical Team-Based Learning for MD students and lecturing on women's health across the lifespan. She actively supervises PhD students in perinatal mental health, Indigenous health, and psychopharmacology research.
