Professor Jacqueline Bloomfield is a Professor of Nursing Education at the University of Sydney's Faculty of Medicine and Health. She holds a PhD from the University of London and has over 20 years of experience in healthcare education. Her roles include Director of International Programs, overseeing the Bachelor of Nursing (Post-registration) in Singapore, and Director of the International Strategy. She also serves as Chief Specialty Editor for Frontiers in Medicine - Health Professions Education.
Her research focuses on health professions education, interprofessional learning, and supportive care in cancer and palliative settings. Notable achievements include Faculty Awards for Excellence (2018-2019) and recognition as a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. She chairs the Collaborative Health Education Sydney (CHES) Advisory Group and represents the University on the Australasian Interprofessional Practice Steering Committee.
Bloomfield has supervised 3 PhD, 3 Master's, and 14 Honours students. Her grants include projects on interprofessional education modules, international nursing collaborations, and medication safety simulations. She holds adjunct roles at Edith Cowan University and Queen's University Belfast, and serves as an External Examiner for Hong Kong universities.
Her work emphasizes global health education, cultural competence, and advancing clinical skills through innovative teaching methods. Key publications include textbooks on clinical nursing skills and OSCE preparation, as well as peer-reviewed articles on palliative care, interprofessional teamwork, and nurse education strategies.
