Jacob R. Hickman is an Associate Professor of Anthropology at Brigham Young University. His research examines how migration, displacement, and diaspora affect cultural and psychological phenomena, with ethnographic fieldwork conducted among Hmong communities in Southeast Asia and Western diasporas.
Research focuses include:
- Transnational religious revitalization and ritual practices
- Moral cognition and ethical development in cross-cultural contexts
- Hmong diaspora identity formation and community dynamics
- Post-conflict reconciliation processes in Northern Ireland
