Dr. Jacob W. Martin is a Lecturer in the Discipline of Physics and Astronomy at Curtin University and Group Leader of the Curtin Carbon Group. He holds a PhD from the University of Cambridge and has held roles such as Research Fellow at the Cambridge Centre for Carbon Reduction in Singapore and Forrest Fellow at Curtin University. His research focuses on carbon materials science, including graphite synthesis, soot formation, and energy storage applications. He teaches courses in solid-state physics and quantum mechanics.
Education: PhD (Cambridge), MSc (University of Auckland), BSc Hons (University of Auckland).
Research interests include carbon nanotechnology, pollution reduction, and advanced computational modeling. His work integrates experimental and theoretical approaches to understand carbon material formation, with applications in batteries, hydrogen storage, and nuclear materials.
Scientific awards include the Forrest Fellowship (2021). Collaborations involve institutions like the Cambridge Centre for Carbon Reduction and the Hydrogen Storage Research Group at Curtin.
