Jacob Kronenberg is a university professor at the Department of Socio-Ecological Systems Analysis within the Faculty of Economics and Sociology at the University of Lodz. In addition to his position at the University of Lodz, he serves as a visiting scholar at the University of Cambridge's Cambridge Conservation Initiative.
Professor Kronenberg's research focuses on ecological economics, with particular emphasis on:
- Environmental values and valuation methodologies
- Sustainable development and consumption patterns
- Social-ecological systems analysis
- Urban green spaces and human-bird interactions
- Institutional frameworks for environmental protection
His current research portfolio includes significant international projects such as CLEARING HOUSE, ENABLE, and degrowth studies. In 2024, he launched a new interdisciplinary project titled "A bird's-eye view of how the natural environment fits into economics: Searching for alternative paradigms by analysing bird conservation narratives," which examines how bird conservation narratives can inform economic thinking about nature and value. His work bridges ecological conservation with economic theory, offering innovative approaches to environmental valuation.
Professor Kronenberg teaches courses on "Value and valuation of the environment," "Circular economy," and "Sustainable development," integrating theoretical frameworks with practical applications to prepare students for contemporary environmental challenges. His teaching emphasizes the connection between economic systems and ecological sustainability.
