Jacob Hurst is the University Librarian, Director of the St. Thomas University Law Library, and Associate Professor of Law Librarianship and Technology at the Benjamin L. Crump College of Law. He oversees the STU Library system and has spearheaded transformative changes to integrate library resources across the campus, enhance efficiencies, and reimagine library spaces.
Education: B.S. from the University of Utah; M.L.I.S. (magna cum laude) from the University of South Florida; J.D. (cum laude) from St. Thomas University School of Law. He was a Law Review editor, student government member, and interned at the Florida Supreme Court and U.S. District Court.
Research focuses on legal research methodologies, equitable access to government information, environmental law, election law, and constitutional law. He teaches legal writing and research courses, advising students on research papers and law review submissions. His professional service includes roles on the Dean’s Leadership Team and collaborations to advance the law school’s strategic goals.
Civic involvement includes activism in environmental causes, Rotary, and political campaigns. Personal interests include outdoor activities like camping and exploring U.S. National Parks.
