Prof. Jacob Giehm Mikkelsen is a Professor at the Department of Biomedicine, Aarhus University. His research focuses on gene therapy, CRISPR-Cas9 systems, viral vector engineering, and molecular medicine. He holds a leadership role in Nvelop Therapeutics as a board member.
Research Interests:
- Development of viral and non-viral delivery systems for CRISPR-based therapies
- Engineering lentiviral vectors and virus-like particles for targeted gene editing
- Mechanisms of host defense against viral infections
- Application of CRISPR technology in cystic fibrosis and other genetic disorders
Recent Contributions:
Recent work includes advancements in CRISPR delivery systems using pseudotyped lentiviral nanoparticles and extracellular vesicle-based vehicles. His team has also elucidated STING pathway defects in viral immunopathology, contributing to understanding of severe VZV infections.
