Jacob Erickson is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Computer Science at Vassar College since 2024. His work bridges human-computer interaction and data science to study online communities, digital discourse dynamics, and sociopolitical impacts of technology design.
Education: AA from Shoreline Community College, BA from University of Washington-Bothell Campus, MS from Northeastern University, and PhD from Stevens Institute of Technology.
Research focuses on social computing, digital communication, and algorithmic fairness. Key themes include platform governance, emotional expression in digital spaces, and privacy challenges in health tech. Courses taught include CMPU 101 (Problem-Solving and Abstraction) and CMPU 241 (Analysis of Algorithms).
