Prof. Dr. Anikó Hannák is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Informatics, University of Zurich. Her research focuses on computer-based social sciences, examining the co-evolution of online systems and their users, particularly addressing negative consequences of big-data algorithms in platforms like search engines, online shops, and labor markets. She pioneered 'Algorithmic Auditing' to uncover biases in these systems, such as filter bubbles, price discrimination, and inequalities in online labor markets.
Education: PhD in Computer & Information Science from Northeastern University (advisors: Alan Mislove and David Lazer). Previously studied theoretical mathematics and sociology.
Research emphasizes interdisciplinary approaches to understand societal impacts of technology, advocating for digital societies research and inclusive academic environments.
