Caroline Hardin

Caroline Hardin is an Associate Professor of Computer Science Education at Western Washington University, where she serves as Director of the Computer Science Education Program. Her office is located in CF 469 with hours on Mondays and Wednesdays from 12-1pm.

Dr. Hardin's research focuses on understanding what it means to 'know' computer science and how to increase diversity in access to CS education. She investigates CS education toys and games, CS teacher training methodologies, digital privacy education, and e-textiles. Her work with educational robots represents an innovative approach to making computer science more accessible and engaging for diverse learners.

She teaches multiple courses including CSCI 141, CSCI 241, CSCI 497Y, SCED 205, SCED 425/435, and SCED 426/436, bridging computer science and science education. Her research is conducted through the Index In Bounds CS Education lab, where she develops approaches to broaden participation in computer science education.
