Jaclyn Wisinski is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biology at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. Her research focuses on understanding platelet production by megakaryocytes and its implications in thrombosis and hemorrhage. She holds a B.S. in Biology from UW-La Crosse, a Ph.D. in Pharmacology & Toxicology from the Medical College of Wisconsin, and completed postdoctoral fellowships at the Blood Research Institute and UW-Madison.
Her research interests include platelet regulation, interactions between megakaryocytes and metastatic breast cancer cells, and diabetes-related signaling pathways. She has published work on prostaglandin effects in obesity-induced diabetes models and presented findings at institutions like the Mayo Clinic and UW Carbone Cancer Center. In 2023, she received an award for a poster presentation on cancer cell interactions.
Wisinski teaches courses such as Cell Biology, Bioinformatics, and Radiation Biology. She advises the Golden Key International Honour Society at UWL and mentors students like Joshua Krause, contributing to collaborative research projects with institutions like the William S. Middleton VA Hospital. Her lab utilizes advanced tools like flow cytometry for cellular analysis, enhancing student research opportunities through initiatives like the Prairie Springs Science Center.
