Hervé Falet, PhD, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Cell Biology, Neurobiology and Anatomy (CBNA) at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW). His research focuses on platelet and megakaryocyte biology, with emphasis on glycobiology, endocytosis, and signaling pathways. Falet leads the Falet Lab, which investigates molecular mechanisms underlying platelet function and thrombocytopenia. He holds editorial roles including Co-Chair of the American Society of Hematology Scientific Committee on Megakaryocytes and Platelets and membership on the Journal of Thrombosis and Haemostasis editorial board.
Key research themes include: (1) Regulation of platelet microvesicle release via gelsolin, (2) Glycan-dependent platelet count regulation, (3) Role of PACSIN2 in integrin signaling, and (4) Molecular basis of congenital thrombocytopenia. Recent work highlights discoveries about Mpl receptor endocytosis in megakaryocyte maturation and filamin A's role in cytoskeletal signaling.
His lab has received recognition including the 2020 and 2018 Outstanding Educator Awards from MCW's Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences. Students under his mentorship have achieved awards like the 2024 Chateaubriand Fellowship (Emily Boyd) and multiple ASH Abstract Achievement Awards (Nathan Eaton).
- Key Awards: Outstanding Educator (2020, 2018), Midwest Platelet Conference Best Presentation (2024)
