Jackline Wahba is a Professor of Economics and Director of Research in Economics at the University of Southampton, UK. She was honored with an OBE in 2020 for services to Economic Policy and is a Founding Fellow of the Royal Economic Society and Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences. She serves on the Council of the Royal Economic Society (2020-2025), ESRC Council (2022-2025), and was a member of the REF2021 Sub-Panel 16 (Economics & Econometrics). Previously, she chaired the UK Migration Advisory Committee (2012-2021).
Her research focuses on international migration and labor markets. She leads Migration Research at the ESRC Research Centre for Population Change (CPC) and is affiliated with CReAM, ERF, and IZA. She sits on the Editorial Board of World Development and has held editorial roles for IZA journals. She is also involved with the Economic Research Forum and the Migration Observatory at Oxford.
Awards include her OBE and fellowships, reflecting her contributions to economic policy and academia. Her advisory roles span national and international bodies, emphasizing her influence in migration and labor market policy.
