Jackie Wyse Rhodes is an Assistant Professor of Religion, focusing on redefining church-community relationships through asset-based approaches. She previously worked at a Mennonite drop-in center in Almere, Netherlands, where she co-developed a curriculum challenging traditional outreach methods. Her work emphasizes mutual benefit between congregations and neighborhoods, rooted in theology of presence and community asset inventories. Currently near completion of her Ph.D. in Hebrew Bible at Emory University, her research explores how congregations can engage communities through shared strengths rather than deficits.
- Key Experience: Mennonite Mission Network (2002-2007), drop-in center work and curriculum development with Gerrit Jan Romeijn
- Education: Graduate studies at Anabaptist Mennonite Biblical Seminary; Ph.D. candidate at Emory University
Her curriculum Reconsidering the Church-Community Relationship was presented at the Mennonite World Conference Assembly, aiming to shift congregational mindsets from 'doing for' to 'being with' communities. Future plans include translating the curriculum to English for broader accessibility.
