Dr Jackie Walduck is a Lecturer in Music and Research Fellow in Drama and Theatre at the University of Kent. Her work bridges composition, improvisation, and community engagement, with notable collaborations such as The Seymore Orchestra, an ensemble with homeless individuals. She holds a PhD from City University and has taught at institutions including the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where she pioneered a research module. Her research focuses on collaborative composition, community music, and music's role in health and societal contexts, particularly with marginalized groups like those affected by homelessness, autism, or sight loss.
Education: PhD from City University.
Research interests include socially-engaged music practice, musical creativities, and the intersection of music with health and disability. She has developed outreach projects with Trinity Laban and The Royal Academy of Music, where she is also a Guest Lecturer and Examiner.
Publications highlight interdisciplinary work, blending music with sensory studies, psychology, and healthcare. Recent articles explore multisensory trancing, participatory arts for neurodiverse youth, and mental health interventions through music.
