معرفی
Jack Doolittle is a Consulting Professor and Senior Staff Physicist at Lockheed Martin Advanced Technology Center. He specializes in Magnetospheric and Ionospheric Physics, with a focus on wave-induced particle precipitation and auroral emissions. Doolittle holds a B.A. from the University of Montana (1973), an M.A. in Physics & Astronomy (1976), and a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University (1982). His research includes ionospheric modification, spaceborne instrumentation, and unmanned observatory development.
- Education: B.A. Physics (UM, 1973), M.A. Physics & Astronomy (UM, 1976), Ph.D. Electrical Engineering (Stanford, 1982)
He pioneered observations of auroral emissions linked to VLF wave-induced electron precipitation and led the WIPER Program since 2005. Doolittle was honored with the Antarctic Service Medal and a geographic feature named 'Doolittle Bluff' in Antarctica.
He managed R&D programs at Lockheed Martin and served as Utah State University’s Assistant Professor (1982–1983). His work includes Antarctic field research as Station Science Leader during the 1977 winter-over.
