معرفی
Professor Tim Yeoman is a faculty member in the School of Physics & Astronomy at the University of Leicester, specializing in Magnetospheric Physics. His research focuses on plasma dynamics in planetary magnetospheres, ionospheric processes, and space weather effects. He leads and collaborates on major missions such as TRACERS and RENU-3, investigating phenomena like auroral emissions, field line resonances, and ionospheric irregularities induced by high-frequency radio waves.
His work integrates ground-based observations (e.g., SuperDARN radar, Eskdalemuir magnetic observatory) with satellite data (e.g., Cluster, MESSENGER) to model magnetospheric-ionospheric coupling. Recent projects include studying Jupiter’s auroras using the Hubble and James Webb Space Telescopes, analyzing Mercury’s magnetosphere with BepiColombo, and advancing understanding of ULF wave propagation and plasma mass dynamics during geomagnetic storms.
Professor Yeoman’s research also emphasizes experimental methods, such as high-power HF radio wave experiments at EISCAT and rocket-based measurements of neutral upwelling in the cusp region. His contributions span theoretical modeling, observational analysis, and mission design, with a focus on advancing space physics and enabling predictive space weather capabilities.
