Dr. Jack Brimmell is a Lecturer and Course Leader for Undergraduate Psychology at the University of Worcester, based in the School of Health and Wellbeing's Department of Psychology and Mental Health. He holds a PhD from York St John University, where his research focused on attentional control and perceptual-cognition in athletes. He also earned an MSc in Sport Psychology and a BSc in Sport and Exercise Science from the University of Gloucestershire.
His research interests center on how anxiety and stress impact attentional control and perceptual-cognition during high-pressure sports performance. He aims to develop evidence-based tools to enhance performance under pressure, alongside interests in virtual reality training, executive function, visual attention, and statistical methodologies. Dr. Brimmell has collaborated with elite organizations like the Premier League, Rugby Football Union (RFU), and professional women’s football teams to apply sport psychology principles. His work has been published in top-tier sport psychology journals, and he actively reviews for these publications.
Dr. Brimmell’s long-term goals include creating accessible resources for performance optimization at all levels of sport. His teaching interests align with his research, emphasizing practical applications of psychological principles in real-world settings.
