Dr. Jaana Mirou is a Full Professor at the Telfer School of Management, University of Ottawa, holding the RBC Financial Group Professorship in Health Care Systems. She earned a B.Sc. and M.P.H. from the American University of Beirut, followed by a Ph.D. in Health Management and Policy from the University of Iowa, with a Health Informatics certificate. Her post-doctoral fellowship at HEC Montreal focused on IT in healthcare under the Canada Research Chair.
Research Interests: Intersection of Health Informatics and Healthcare Management, including telehealth adoption, EMR implementation, IT innovation, assistive technologies in long-term care, and technology use by older adults. Her work emphasizes healthcare system optimization, decision-making, and pandemic responses.
- Key Projects: Implementation of EMRs in hospitals, IT innovation dynamics, risks in clinical IT projects, and telemonitoring for chronic diseases.
- Funded Research (2015–2024): Over $1.1M in grants from SSHRC, AGEWELL, MITACS, and internal funding, focusing on long-term care technologies, post-pandemic health IT, and senior care management.
