JOYCE JUNTUNE is a Visiting Professor in the Department of Educational Psychology at Texas A&M University's College of Education and Human Development. She holds a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology (1997), M.S. in Curriculum and Instruction (1978), and B.A. in Elementary Education (1966). Her research focuses on gifted education, creativity in education, poverty's impact on students, and teacher professional development. She has advised numerous doctoral students, including Aaron Scott Marvel (2019) and Kayla Sagebiel Sweet (2017).
Juntune has held leadership roles such as Executive Director of the American Creativity Association (1989–1996) and the National Association for Gifted Children (1979–1989). Her teaching spans courses like EPSY320 (Child Development for Educators) and EPSY624 (Creative Thinking). She has conducted research projects on gifted student assessment, including collaborations with El Paso Independent School District and Texas A&M’s Center for Executive Development.
Juntune’s awards include the 2017 Teaching Excellence Award from the Department of Educational Psychology and the 2011 University-Level Distinguished Achievement Award in Teaching. Her work emphasizes bridging theory and practice, with publications in journals like Gifted Child Today and Gifted Education International.
