Dr. Selcuk Acar is an Associate Professor of Educational Psychology at the University of North Texas. He holds a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from the University of Georgia. His research focuses on divergent thinking, creativity assessment, and gifted/talented education. Previously, he contributed to the Torrance Center for Creativity and Talent Development and the International Center for Studies in Creativity.

Dr. Acar's research integrates computational approaches with psychometrics to measure creativity, especially in educational settings. His work emphasizes originality assessment, meta-analyses of creativity correlates, and socio-cognitive factors influencing creative performance. He has published over 70 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters.
His editorial contributions include roles at Psychology of Aesthetics, Creativity, and the Arts and Gifted Child Quarterly. Awards recognize his research excellence and service, including the APA Division 10 Berlyne Award.
Dr. Acar leads federally funded projects, such as a grant from the Institute of Education Sciences to develop MOTES (Measure of Original Thinking in Elementary School). He mentors graduate students and serves on doctoral committees.
