LTC JD Caddell is an Academy Professor and Director of the Systems and Decision Sciences Program at the United States Military Academy. A commissioned Infantry Officer, he served as a Platoon Leader in Baqubah, Iraq (2009) and Company Commander in Paktia, Afghanistan (2013), later transitioning to an Operations Research and Systems Analyst (FA49) role for the 4th Infantry Division where he pioneered a mobile command post design enhancing battlefield survivability.

- MS in Systems Design and Management – Massachusetts Institute of Technology
- BS in Systems Management – United States Military Academy
His research and professional work focus on integrating systems engineering principles with decision-making frameworks, particularly in sociotechnical contexts and operational analysis for military applications.
