Dr. J. Scott Hilberg is a Clinical Professor in the Department of Computer and Information Sciences at the Fisher College of Science and Mathematics, Towson University. He joined the department as a full-time faculty member in 2000 and became a Clinical Professor, specializing in IT education, project management, and software development. Dr. Hilberg has served as the program director for Towson’s undergraduate IT program since 2010 and for the IT program at Towson University in Northeastern Maryland since 2012.

His research focuses on IT education, supported by a $73,844 MHEC grant as a co-PI. Dr. Hilberg has led curriculum expansion and enrollment growth for Towson’s IT programs. He has taught undergraduate IT and Information Systems courses for five years and currently offers courses like COSC 109 - Computers & Creativity, CIS 265 - Visual Basic Programming, and CIS 479 - Software Project Management.
Dr. Hilberg received the 2014 Fisher College of Science and Mathematics Business & Community Outreach Award for his contributions. He provides academic advising for IT majors, requiring students to submit registration proposals to his email shilberg@towson.edu before enrollment. Office hours are held virtually via Bb Collaborate and in Room YR-423 (Towson University, 8000 York Road, Towson, MD 21252).
