J. Paul Narkunas is an Associate Professor of English at John Jay College of Criminal Justice (CUNY). He holds a Ph.D. in Literature from the University of Pittsburgh (2001), an M.A. in Art History from the University of Chicago (1993), and a B.A. in French Literature/Art History from Emory University (1991).

His research focuses on digital technologies' impact on conceptions of humanity, speculative capital's reorganization of life, and neoliberal economic processes. Current projects include Edufutures: Private Equity, Philanthropy and the Monetization of Education and Outsourcing ‘Revolution’: Neoliberal Governmentality, Financial Capital, Social Media, and the Privatization of the Speech.
Teaching specialties include digital humanity, science fiction, and critical analysis of contemporary political phenomena like the Tea Party movement and utilitarian humanism. Courses taught include Lit 286 The Horror Film and Lit 300 Digital Humanity: Technology and Science Fictions.
