Prof. Dr. J. Cornelis de Vos is an Associate Professor of New Testament and Ancient Judaism at the Protestant Theological Faculty of the University of Münster, affiliated with the Institutum Judaicum Delitzschianum. His academic journey includes a doctorate in Old Testament (Groningen, 2002) and habilitation in New Testament and Hellenistic Judaism (Münster, 2010). His professional trajectory features numerous guest professorships including at Universität Oldenburg (2023-2025), Universität Osnabrück, and Christian-Albrechts-Universität Kiel.
Research focuses include:
- Hermeneutics in/of the New Testament
- New Testament ethics
- Normativity and identity in antiquity
- Ancient Jewish writings
- Bible reception history
- Theology of the 'Land of Israel'
Publication analysis shows consistent focus on biblical hermeneutics, ancient Judaism, and reception studies. Recent works emphasize spatial theology, Decalogue reception, and interdisciplinary approaches bridging biblical studies with musicology and cultural history.
