J. Alex Birdwell is an Associate Professor of Instruction and Academic Advisor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Northwestern University. He co-directs the Design Thinking and Communication (DTC) program and advises students in the Manufacturing and Design Engineering (MaDE) program. His research interests span robotics, biomechanics, rehabilitation engineering, and pedagogical innovations in engineering education. He actively collaborates with the Segal Design Institute and co-advises the NU Robotics Club.
