Jørn Jacobsen is a Professor and Head of the PhD program at the Faculty of Law, University of Bergen. His research focuses on criminal law, legal theory, and constitutional aspects, with a particular emphasis on Nordic legal systems. He is editor of the Bergen Journal of Criminal Law and Criminal Justice and actively contributes to legal reform debates. His work addresses topics like psychological violence, drug policy, and human rights compliance in criminal law.
Research interests include legal normativity, sentencing practices, and the intersection of criminal law with human rights frameworks. Recent publications highlight challenges in Nordic criminal law science and the reform of sexual crimes legislation under the Istanbul Convention.
