Jörgen Stenlund is a Visiting Assistant Professor at Linköping University, affiliated with the Department of Science and Technology (ITN) and the Media and Information Technology (MIT) group. He is currently pursuing a PhD focused on visualizations in science education, particularly the use of visual tools to enhance understanding of evolutionary time scales and threshold concepts in life sciences. His research explores how visualizations can bridge gaps in comprehending complex scientific ideas, with applications spanning biological education and environmental issues.
As a teacher educator, Stenlund has extensive experience instructing educators across preschool to secondary school levels, emphasizing didactics in natural sciences. He is part of the Visual Learning and Communication research group, which investigates how visualizations aid learning in biology and molecular sciences. His work bridges theoretical research and practical educational design, aiming to improve science communication through visual methods.
Stenlund’s publications highlight themes like student affective responses to evolutionary visualizations and the design of educational tools for temporal concepts. His interdisciplinary approach integrates cognitive science, educational technology, and biology pedagogy to address challenges in science education.
