Işıl Balcıoğlu

Prof. Işıl Balcıoğlu is a Professor at the Institute of Environmental Sciences, Boğaziçi University. Her education includes a Ph.D. from Boğaziçi University (1990), an M.S. from Istanbul University (1985), and a B.S. from Istanbul University (1982). Her academic career progressed from Assistant Professor (1993-1999) to Associate Professor (1999-2004) before becoming a full Professor in 2004.

Her research focuses on:

• Advanced oxidation processes for water/wastewater/sludge treatment
• Chemical processes in environmental engineering
• Occurrence and fate of micropollutants

Her publications center on chemical oxidation techniques, sludge treatment optimization, and antimicrobial removal. Recent projects include TÜBİTAK and BAP-funded research on manure composting and halogenated organic removal (2010-2016).
