معرفی
Dr. IŞIL AYDEMİR is an Associate Professor in the Department of Histology and Embryology at Nigde Omer Halisdemir University Faculty of Medicine, where she has been serving since 2022. Previously, she worked as a Doctor Lecturer at the same institution from 2017. Her academic career spans multiple research areas including stem cell biology, cancer research, neuroprotection, and histological techniques.
Her educational background includes:
- PhD in Histology and Embryology from Celal Bayar University (2012-2016) with thesis "Effects of stem cell applications on implantation"
- MA in Pharmacology from Manisa Celal Bayar University (2013-2020) with thesis "Neuroprotective effect of pioglitazone after diffuse brain injury"
- MA in Histology-Embryology from Celal Bayar University (2006-2009) with thesis "Evaluation of the effects of α-lactalbumin and sulindac on the mitochondrial apoptotic pathway in primary and metastatic human colon cancer cell lines by immunohistochemistry and electronmicroscopic methods"
- MA in Biology from Celal Bayar University (2003-2006) with thesis "Histochemical determination of glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) in normal and alcohol-stimulated chick embryo neural tube development"
- Bachelor's degree in Biology from Süleyman Demirel University (1999-2003)
Dr. Aydemir's research focuses on stem cell applications, cancer biology, neuroprotection, and histological techniques. Her work particularly emphasizes the effects of various compounds and treatments on cancer cells, neural development, and tissue regeneration. She has extensively studied the effects of natural products like Hypericum crenulatum, Capparis ovata, and curcumin on cancer cell proliferation and apoptosis. Her research also investigates stem cell therapies for brain injury, bone regeneration, and wound healing. The integration of molecular techniques with traditional histological methods characterizes her approach to understanding cellular mechanisms in health and disease.
Analysis of her recent publications reveals a strong focus on molecular pathways in cancer and neuroprotection, with particular attention to GSK-3beta signaling, oxidative stress mechanisms, and natural product interventions. Her work spans multiple model systems from cell cultures to animal models, demonstrating methodological versatility.
Dr. Aydemir has received numerous awards for her scientific contributions, including:
- Sözlü Bildiri Üçüncülük Ödülü (2015)
- En İyi Poster Ödülü (2015)
- POSTER BİRİNCİLİK ÖDÜLÜ (2017)
- EN İYİ SÖZEL SUNUM ÖDÜLÜ (2015)
- Poster Birincilik Ödülü (2014)
- 2017 YILI HAMİT ZİYA GÖKALP GENÇ NÖROŞİRÜRJİYEN TEŞVİK İKİNCİLİK ÖDÜLÜ (2017)
- PROF DR HAMİT ZİYA GÖKALP GENÇ NÖROŞİRÜRJİYEN TEŞVİK İKİNCİLİK ÖDÜLÜ (2020)
Dr. Aydemir has been actively involved in numerous research projects supported by Higher Education Institutions, covering topics from stem cell applications to neuroprotection and cancer research. She has served in various administrative roles at Nigde Omer Halisdemir University including Department Head since 2018, Education-Teaching and Quality Committee membership since 2021, and Zero Waste Committee membership since 2019. She currently leads a project on adipose tissue-derived mesenchymal stem cell application in experimental knee arthritis in rats.
Her laboratory work focuses on cell culture techniques, histological and immunohistochemical methods, electron microscopy, and molecular analysis of cellular pathways. She collaborates extensively with researchers in neuroscience, oncology, and regenerative medicine fields, as evidenced by her diverse publication record.
