Iñaki Alday is the Dean and Richard Koch Chair in Architecture at Tulane University. He holds a Master of Architecture from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (1992) and co-founded aldayjover architecture and landscape in 1996. His career includes teaching roles at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, University of Navarra, and University of Virginia, where he served as Elwood R. Quesada Professor of Architecture (2011–2018) and Department Chair (2011–2016).
His research focuses on urban-river dynamics, ecological urbanism, and flood-resilient design. Notable projects include the Yamuna River Project (since 2016), a multidisciplinary initiative revitalizing Delhi’s Yamuna River, and the Manzanares River Restoration Strategy (Madrid). He has led projects such as the Water Park in Zaragoza (2008), the Arbolé Theatre, and the Vara de Rey Walk in Ibiza. His work emphasizes integrating environmental ethics, social equity, and sustainable practices into urban spaces.
Key collaborations include projects with the World Bank, Madrid and Barcelona City Councils, and initiatives like the Kelani River Flood Protection Design Guide in Sri Lanka. His professional memberships include the Academia Europaea and associations such as COAC (Catalonia) and COAA (Aragon).
