Izabella Rybacka is a lecturer at the University of the Arts Poznań, Faculty of Painting, Graphic Arts, and Sculpture, since 2007. She specializes in Techniques and Technologies of Scenography and the History of Clothing, contributing to academic education through her multifaceted artistic practice.
- Studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Poznań, graduating in 1981 from the Lithography Studio of Professor Lucjan Mianowski and the Textile Studio of Professor Magdalena Abakanowicz
- Active in drawing, graphic arts, painting, theatre costume design, and scenography
- Presented solo and group exhibitions in Poland and internationally
Her research and artistic work explore spatial contexts, temporal transformations, and the interplay between grotesque and drama, inspired by Bruno Schulz's Treatise on Mannequins. Rybacka's creative process integrates themes of time-taming, material decay, and philosophical interpretations of gesture and space.
Notable projects include set design and costumes for the drama Escorial by Michel de Gheldrrode, with a doctoral thesis completed in 2019. Her work bridges academic instruction and professional practice in visual and performative arts.
