Izabella Frere-Scott is a Teaching Associate and PhD candidate at Queen Mary University of London's School of English and Drama. Her research focuses on the intersection of law and literature, particularly the legal concept of 'sexual fraud' and its literary counterpart, 'the bed trick.' She holds an MA in Critical Writing from the Royal College of Art (London) and a BA in English Literature from Trinity College, Dublin.
Her work spans literary criticism and art writing, with essays appearing in ArtReview, Financial Times, Artforum, and others. She co-authored the forthcoming book Pleasure Gardens (MACK, 2024), examining Kashmir's 2019 communication blackout and its geopolitical implications.
Izabella previously served as Editor of The White Review (2021–2023) and has chaired talks at institutions like Tate Britain, the Barbican, and Frieze Art Fair. Her interdisciplinary approach bridges legal theory, postcolonial studies, and cultural critique.
