Ivy Helman, M.A., Ph.D., serves as a Lecturer in Gender Studies at Charles University's Faculty of Humanities (FHS) and Lecturer II in Jewish Studies at Anglo-American University in Prague. Her academic journey includes positions at Merrimack College, Boston College, Carroll University, and Yale University.
Her educational background features a Ph.D. in Religion with specialization in Women's Studies and Theology from Claremont Graduate University (2009), an M.A.R. in Religion from Yale University (2003), and a B.A. in Anthropology/Spanish with Museum Studies from Beloit College (2000). Her research spans feminism in religion, ecofeminism, gender psychology, feminist futures, and antiwar activism, with particular focus on intersections between religious traditions, environmental crises, and refugee experiences.
Her scholarly output includes the book Women and the Vatican: An Exploration of Official Documents (2012) and numerous articles examining queer theology, feminist pedagogy, and patriarchal violence. Her recent work demonstrates increasing engagement with ecofeminist frameworks connecting environmental degradation, refugee crises, and gender-based violence.
