Ivanka Topurova

Ivanka Topurova is a Chief Assistant Professor at the University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy (UACEG) in the Faculty of Transport Engineering, Department of Roads and Transport Facilities. She holds a Doctorate in Engineering and has extensive expertise in structural and bridge engineering.

Education:

• 2009-2014: Doctorate from Technical University of Berlin with dissertation on "Analysis of the load-bearing capacity and residual service life of steel road bridges with detailed consideration of traffic impacts". Scholarship holder of Friedrich-Naumann-Stiftung für die Freiheit.
• 1995-2000: Master of Engineering from University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy, Sofia, with specialization in "Structures" and diploma thesis on "Reinforced concrete bridge over the Danube River".
• 1991-1995: Sofia Mathematical High School "Paisiy Hilendarski".

Ivanka Topurova's research focuses on structural engineering with particular emphasis on bridge engineering and transport infrastructure. Her work spans load-bearing capacity analysis, seismic design of bridges, and the evaluation of existing steel structures. She has contributed significantly to national applications for seismic design standards and has studied the impact of heavy vehicle regulations on bridge infrastructure. Her research combines theoretical analysis with practical applications in the field of transportation engineering.

Ivanka Topurova has been actively involved in scientific projects including the development of national applications for seismic design of bridges and studies on the effects of heavy vehicle regulations. She serves as a member of the Chamber of Engineers in Investment Design (KIIP) in Sofia, Section "Constructions" with registration number 10930. Her teaching responsibilities include courses on bridge engineering across multiple semesters.

Ivanka Topurova collaborates with international institutions including the Bundesanstalt für Straßenwesen in Germany and participates in conferences across the Danube Basin region, contributing to the advancement of bridge engineering practices in Southeast Europe.
