Associate Professor Ivanka Habuš Jerčić is affiliated with the University of Zagreb Faculty of Agriculture in the Department of Plant Breeding, Genetics and Biometrics. Her academic career spans 20+ years focused on plant stress tolerance and biotechnology.
- Education: PhD in Plant Sciences (University of Zagreb), Mag. ing. agr. (University of Zagreb)
Research focuses on genetic and epigenetic responses to abiotic stress, somaclonal variation in crops, and conservation of endemic plant species through micropropagation techniques. She has led multiple projects on wheat drought tolerance and sustainable use of plant genetic resources.
Her work spans plant biotechnology, genetic resource conservation, and stress physiology, with recent publications covering in vitro propagation of Capparis orientalis, Iris illyrica, and Micromeria croatica.
She coordinates national and EU-funded projects including:
- PotatoSignalHub (Croatian Science Foundation, 2020-2024)
- Agrobiodiversity for Climate Change Adaptation (ERDF, 2019-2022)
- Drought-Resistant Wheat Development (MZOS, 2017-2019)
Her lab focuses on plant tissue culture, genetic stability analysis, and molecular breeding for abiotic stress resistance.
