Marija Pecina is a Full Professor at the Department of Plant Breeding, Genetics and Biometrics within the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Zagreb. With a career spanning over three decades at the same institution, she specializes in biometrics, multivariate analysis, and experimental design in agricultural sciences. Her research focuses on statistical methods for plant variety evaluation and improving breeding processes through advanced analytical techniques.
- PhD in Multivariate Analysis and Application in Plant Breeding (1993-1998)
- MSc in Optimal Plot Size and Shape in Maize Experiments (1987-1992)
- BSc in Greenery and Landscape Design (1978-1984)
She has coordinated multiple research projects funded by the Croatian Science Foundation and Ministry of Science (MZOS), including genetic adaptability studies for drought tolerance in maize and wheat variability analysis. Her professional activities include leadership roles in the Croatian Biometric Society, editorial board memberships, and participation in university committees for postgraduate studies.
