Ivan Solivellas Ugena

Ivan Solivellas Ugena is a Senior Lecturer at the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB) in the Department of Catalan Philology and General Linguistics. Previously, he held teaching and research positions at the Universitat de Barcelona (2017-2018, 2021-2022) and Universitat Pompeu Fabra (2018-2021 as predoctoral researcher, 2022-2023 as Margarita Salas postdoctoral researcher). His academic journey includes a degree in Catalan Language and Literature from UIB (2015), a Master's in Teacher Training (UIB, 2016), a Master's in Humanities: Contemporary Art, Literature and Culture (Universitat Oberta de Catalunya, 2017), and a PhD in Translation and Language Sciences from Universitat Pompeu Fabra (2021).

Ivan's research has evolved from lexicology and morphological continuum analysis to critical sociolinguistics and critical discourse studies. His current focus areas include:

• Language ideologies and power dynamics
• Intersection of discourse, politics, and society
• Applied linguistics in multilingual contexts
• Synchronic linguistic analysis
• Language teaching methodologies

As a member of the consolidated research group GRESIB (Sociolinguistics in the Balearic Islands), he contributes to regional linguistic studies while maintaining an active teaching schedule across multiple academic years (2022-2023 to 2025-26) in programs related to early childhood education, primary education, and Catalan language and literature degrees.
