Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ivan Minchev is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Forestry, Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje, within the Department of Land and Water. He has been a faculty member since 2011, advancing from junior assistant to associate professor in 2020.
Education:
- Graduated (2004) – Faculty of Forestry, Skopje
- MSc (2008) – Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Chania, Greece, on "Land cover mapping using object-based classification of medium-high and high-resolution imagery"
- PhD (2015) – Faculty of Forestry, Skopje, on "Development of a methodology for determining protective zones around water accumulations from the aspect of erosion and sediment transport"
Research Interests: His expertise lies in geoinformatics, remote sensing, and spatial data analysis, with a strong focus on land cover mapping, erosion modeling, and sediment transport dynamics. He also contributes to landscape and spatial planning, particularly in designing protective measures for water resource management.
Teaching Engagement: He teaches Computer Applications, Geoinformatics, and Introduction to Landscape and Spatial Planning at the undergraduate level, and Geoinformatics 2 and Design Cycle in Engineering at the graduate level. Additionally, he conducts practical exercises in Geodesy with Technical Drawing, Topography, Fundamentals of Water and Soil Conservation, and Storm Management.
