Dr. Ivan Bedzhov leads the Embryonic Self-Organization research group at the Max Planck Institute of Molecular Biomedicine in Münster. His work focuses on unraveling the mechanisms of early mammalian embryonic development, particularly the transformation of blastocysts into egg cylinders during implantation. The lab utilizes mouse embryos and embryonic stem cells to investigate dynamic cellular reorganization and tissue formation critical for establishing the body plan.
- Affiliated with the Cells in Motion Interfaculty Centre
- Part of Collaborative Research Center 1348 "Dynamic Cellular Interfaces"
- Associated with the Stem Cell Network North Rhine Westphalia
Research projects explore the self-organization of embryonic tissues, the role of cellular mechanics in implantation, and in vitro models of post-implantation development. Funding comes from prestigious programs including the European Research Council (ERC), German Research Foundation (DFG), and Cluster of Excellence "Cells in Motion".
