Itziar Okariz

Itziar Okariz is an Adjunct Professor at The Cooper Union’s Irwin S. Chanin School of Architecture. Her work intersects performance art, architecture, and feminist critiques, examining themes like body, territory, ritual, and gender constructs. She collaborates on educational initiatives such as Kalostra and JAI (Institute for Artistic Practices).

Research interests focus on performance art, queer theory, and spatial politics, often blending interdisciplinary practices. Notable exhibitions include Processi 150 (Academia de España, Rome, 2023), XXIII Bienal de arte Paiz (Guatemala, 2023), and representation of Spain at the 58th Venice Biennale (2019).

Her performances and installations address societal structures through embodied narratives, with recent works exhibited in Beijing, Amsterdam, and León. Collaborations include institutional partnerships with Artium Museum and Tabakalera.

Okariz’s practice extends to experimental educational programs, fostering cross-disciplinary dialogue in artistic and architectural contexts.
