Ittai Weinryb is a Professor at Bard Graduate Center, where he serves as Editor of West 86th: A Journal of Decorative Arts, Design History, and Material Culture. His research spans Medieval European Artistic and Material Culture, Anthropology of Image Making, and the Geography of Art, with a focus on the Mediterranean, Eurasia, and the Indian Ocean regions.

Weinryb explores themes such as votive objects as material expressions of sentiment, colonialism in medieval art, and the ontological and agentive turns in material culture studies. His edited book series Art/Work redefines art history through objects, materials, and technology.
Recent publications include Magic: Special Issue of West 86th (2025), Metalwork: Special Issue of West 86th (2022), and Die Hildesheimer Avantgarde: Kunst und Kolonialismus im mittelalterlichen Deutschland (2023). He curated the 2018 Agents of Faith exhibition on votive objects.
His courses cover topics like Late Antique/Early Medieval Material Culture, Visual and Material Cultures of the Middle Ages, and Gothic Visions. Weinryb is also co-editor of the Art/Work book series and contributes to global discussions on ex-voto practices and materiality.
