Itamar Dubinsky

Dr. Itamar Dubinsky is a Lecturer in the Department of Politics and Government at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, with affiliations at Hebrew University and the Open University. His academic focus lies in African studies, particularly examining how sports contribute to community and national development in Africa.

His research spans fieldwork with sports clubs in Ghana (football, surfing, basketball, and gaming) and analyzes the political, economic, and cultural strategies African nations employ through sports. While he highlights sports' potential for personal and communal growth, he also warns of their risks in deepening inequalities and fostering exploitation.

Dr. Dubinsky earned his PhD at Ben-Gurion University after completing a bachelor's at Tel Aviv University and previously taught in the United States. He combines academic rigor with personal passions, including a background as a certified basketball coach from the Wingate Institute and a lifelong interest in screenwriting.
