Issaiah Wallace is an Assistant Professor in the School of Nursing at West Virginia Wesleyan College and a Psychiatric Mental-Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) at WVU Medicine’s inpatient psychiatric facility. He holds a PMHNP Post-Graduate Certificate from Shenandoah University’s Eleanor Wade Custer School of Nursing (graduated 2018). Previously, he served as a nursing instructor at Salem University and clinical supervisor at Fairmont Regional Medical Center.
Wallace specializes in treating acute mental illness and addiction, emphasizing care for underserved populations. His research interests include addiction in Appalachia and psychopharmacology. He contributed to an academic anthology on addiction in Appalachia and presented on psychopharmacology at a local conference. Wallace was recognized as a Healthcare Hero by WBOY 12 News in 2020 for his contributions to mental health care.
As an educator, he prioritizes fostering student growth and ‘lightbulb moments’ in clinical training. Wallace advocates for holistic patient care, blending clinical expertise with empathy to address systemic challenges in mental health.
